Social media internship
The Michigan Poison & Drug Information Center (MiPDC) is seeking a creative WSU student to join our team as a Media Intern.
This position will provide hands-on experience creating social media content for a statewide health and safety organization. The intern will work directly with the MiPDC Marketing Project Manager to develop engaging visual content that helps educate Michigan communities about poison prevention and safety.
What You'll Do
Create 1–2 static social media posts per week
Create at least 2 reels or short-form videos per month
Help brainstorm content ideas and creative concepts
Design graphics and visual content for MiPDC social media channels
Shoot and edit short-form video
Apply MiPDC branding and messaging to social content
Collaborate with the Marketing Project Manager on content planning and production
Learn how social media analytics can be used to improve content and engagement
As you become more comfortable with the work, there may be opportunities to take on additional video and content projects.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who is creative, dependable and eager to learn.
Ideal candidates will have:
Experience with Adobe Creative Suite—especially Illustrator, Photoshop and Premiere—or similar tools such as Canva
Experience creating graphics, videos or other social media content
Strong visual communication and storytelling skills
Good written and verbal communication skills
An eye for design, composition and typography
The ability to take feedback and collaborate on creative projects
Good organization and time-management skills
Portfolio Required
Applicants should be prepared to provide examples of their creative work. Your portfolio may include:
Graphic design • Social media • Videography • Photography • Video editing • Class projects • Personal creative projects
Professional experience is not required. We're interested in seeing your creativity, technical ability and potential.
Experience using social media analytics or data to improve engagement and grow an audience is a bonus.
