Perri Kern, RN, BSN, CSPI
Hello!
My name is Perri and I am what some would call a "lifer," "seasoned," or "veteran" at the Michigan Poison Center and am proud to be a member of this organization. I am a BSN and RN and have had the privilege of serving our callers for the past 31 years.
During this time, I have maintained my Certified Specialist in Poison Information (CSP) credential for the past 26 years of my career. Initially my career as a RN started in the Emergency Department at Children's Hospital of Michigan, where I proudly served to treat and care for the most intricate healthcare needs of our sick and hurting little people!
Needless to say, my career in the Poison Center has truly been a rewarding experience for me. The greatest privilege for me is to be able to connect with so many different people daily and help them in their moment of greatest need. Often it is just reassurance and simple treatment recommendations that are needed for resolution of your poison emergency and to restore your peace of mind. However, when the need arises, we also can and will do everything within our scope of power and knowledge to protect the health of you and your loved ones.
At the Michigan Poison Center there is always something to learn on a daily basis. We encounter complex, critical, intense, and collaborative cases every shift and I love the challenge this experience gives me. My career with the Poison Center keeps me professionally and personally engaged, filled with zest and zeal, and empowers my mind and life with tremendous growth opportunities to fuel my passion for toxicology.
Outside of the poison center I am married to my soul-mate and best friend... he is the love of my life! Together we enjoy travelling, boating, biking, gardening, designing landscape projects, serving in our church, anything music, and navigating our way through this life together.
