Our Call Center

The Michigan Poison & Drug Information Center (MiPDC) is a nationally accredited poison center through America’s Poison Centers, providing expert medical advice for poison-related emergencies across Michigan. We support the public, hospitals, EMS, and healthcare providers — 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

As part of the Wayne State University School of Medicine’s Department of Emergency Medicine, the MiPDC is one of 53 accredited poison centers serving the United States and its territories.

Each year, our team manages more than 50,000 poison-related cases, offering free, confidential guidance tailored to every situation. In addition to emergency support, we:

  • Provide follow-up care for ongoing cases

  • Educate healthcare professionals

  • Monitor and report emerging public health risks

  • Support local, state, and national emergency preparedness efforts

Behind every call is a highly trained team of physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and Specialists in Poison Information (SPIs)—the experts who answer your call, assess each situation, and guide you through what to do next.
